OmaROSS is a four-day Summer Kickoff event; this event was brought to life through our partnerships with Youth for Greater Good, So Elite Basketball Training, GMoneyiam Visions, and Visions2Reality. We kicked off the summer with a NCAA Athlete Panel, Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo field trip, Round Table Talks Series, So Elite All-Academic Camp, and a Culture Night. Throughout the OmaROSS weekend, So Elite Training & ROSS Leaders collaborated to host one of the largest basketball camps in the country. The So Elite All-Academic Camp. 50 skilled student-athletes traveled from around the nation to Omaha to participate in the event. The two-day camp consisted of skills training as well as competitive games for the student-athletes to showcase their skills. The skills training and games were documented by South Sudanese videographer George Abwok of GMoneyiam Visions.
A massive portion of our success can be attributed to the community. We understand that without the support from the community and our students’ families, our work would not be possible. We hosted large community events in 2021, one to kick off our summer programming and another to end the season with a bang. Our June BBQ in Lincoln was an opportunity for our youth, their families, and other community leaders to learn more about our story and our goals, and to meet the leaders who are the backbone of our organization.
