The Wenyen Gabriel Basketball Camp brought over 300 co-ed youth players together. Hosted at Dr. Biar’s Sports Complex in Juba, we took the vital first steps of engaging with the youth and developing their skills at grassroots level.
As an independent nation, South Sudan faces many challenges including conflict resolution, climate change, and infrastructure developments. Due to these issues, there are over 2 million internally displaced people who are housed in refugee camps. While in Juba, our leadership team visited Mangalla IDP Camp, a refugee camp that houses over 12,000 people who have been internally displaced. Witnessing the struggle of our own people has led our group to put out a call for action: our immediate goals are to reconstruct three basketball courts which will give the youth a space to stay active and keep idle. In order to achieve this mission, we are excited to launch our capital campaign to raise $500,000 by July 2023.
We are so excited to host more camps and programming in the future. We would love your support as we work to mold our future leaders.
